James C. Gillen will present a reading and discussion about his most recent paranormal fiction "Victory," the third in the Paul Isaacs series. His book "Tortured Skin" won the Royal Palm award for Best in Horror for Florida Writers and was a finalist for horror book of the year in 2009 by USA Book News for American and International authors.

Talking about the magic of "place"

Hollins graduate Lee Zacharias reads from her new novel, Across the Great Lake, and discusses writing about place with Cathryn Hankla, Hollins professor and author of Lost Places  Friday, November 9 at 7 pm. 

Zacharias is Emerita Professor of English at University of North Carolina Greensboro and the author of two other novels and a collection of short stories.

Cathyrn Hankla has written 14 books including Lost Places: On Losing and Finding HomeGalaxiesGreat Bear and Fortune Teller Miracle Fish. She is chair of the Hollins University English and Creative Writing program and was the inaugural director of the Jackson Center for Creative Writing.
